Job Purpose
The primary purpose of the Chief Driver role is to allocate Loader/Drivers effectively to ensure dnata meets its operational commitments to all customer airlines. Allocations are carried out using the Resource Management System (RMS), taking into account flight schedules, aircraft requirements, and operational priorities. This role is critical to maintaining punctuality, safety, and efficiency in airside operations.
The Chief Driver plays a leadership role, coordinating closely with Team Leaders and operational staff to ensure smooth aircraft handling, especially during periods of disruption or schedule changes.
Key Responsibilities
As a Chief Driver, you will be responsible for overseeing daily driver allocations and maintaining discipline and productivity within a large operational workforce. Key responsibilities include:
- Allocating Loader/Drivers to handle aircraft based on load, flight number, and scheduled departure time
- Briefing drivers on flight details, Standard Time of Departure (STD), and operational requirements
- Monitoring staff time, attendance, and overall discipline
- Managing and controlling large groups of personnel in a dynamic airside environment
- Liaising continuously with Team Leaders to adjust driver allocations during flight disruptions
- Assigning drivers during free periods to refuel petrol and diesel vehicles
- Coordinating the dispatch of ground support equipment to the Engineering Department for servicing
- Ensuring operational continuity while maintaining safety and efficiency standards
Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for the Chief Driver role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Minimum of 10 years of schooling or equivalent
- At least one year of driving experience with a good understanding of airside operations
- Strong knowledge of all ramp areas at Dubai International Airport
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
- Knowledge of Arabic or Hindi is an added advantage
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment
