About the Role
The Accountant will be responsible for ensuring the timely processing, accounting, and payment of supplier invoices. The position involves reviewing financial processes, maintaining internal controls, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring accurate accounting records.
The successful candidate will also support management reporting, account reconciliations, and financial process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Review financial processes, identify high-risk areas, and conduct quality checks.
- Maintain prevention and detection controls to ensure accurate invoice processing, accounting, billing, and payments.
- Resolve financial disputes, queries, and discrepancies with internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in projects, system enhancement testing, and process improvement initiatives.
- Provide analytical support for Management Information Systems (MIS), KPIs, and Revenue Protection.
- Monitor staff workflows to ensure accurate invoice processing and timely month-end closing.
- Verify expenditure and ensure the accuracy of financial accruals.
- Reconcile supplier statements and follow up on outstanding items.
- Analyse accounts and identify anomalies or discrepancies within agreed timelines.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Minimum 12 years of schooling or equivalent.
- At least 4 years of relevant experience in Finance & Insurance Accounts.
- Candidates with 10 years of schooling may be considered with 6 or more years of relevant experience.
- Good accounting knowledge.
- Strong computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
- Good analytical and investigative skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently within an established framework.
An additional finance-related qualification is preferred. Accounting experience within an airline environment will be an advantage.
