Job Purpose
As a Cargo Agent – Import Operations, you will play a vital role in ensuring that cargo moves efficiently and safely through dnata’s cargo terminals. Your responsibilities include handling, documentation, acceptance, delivery, and equipment operation to maintain seamless import operations. The position requires precision, teamwork, and strict adherence to operational and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform cargo handling activities such as documentation, customer service, acceptance, delivery, build-up, and breakdown of cargo.
- Follow all standard operating procedures and departmental policies to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
- Assist and guide a team of loaders and equipment operators during cargo handling activities.
- Inspect and verify goods against documentation to ensure accuracy at every stage—acceptance, delivery, build-up, and breakdown.
- Enter shipment data into the cargo system promptly to ensure accurate tracking.
- Coordinate efficiently with Government Authorities such as Customs, Municipality, Health, and Police to facilitate cargo clearance.
- Handle special cargo such as dangerous goods, live animals, and valuable shipments in accordance with IATA guidelines.
- Operate warehouse equipment including tow trucks, forklifts, and pallet lifters for loading and unloading.
- Report safety concerns and ensure all operations comply with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
Qualifications and Requirements
To qualify for this role, candidates should meet the following criteria:
- Minimum education of O Level (10 years of schooling) or Higher Secondary (12 years).
- At least 2 years of experience in cargo or logistics operations.
- Good command of English (written and spoken).
- Possession of a valid UAE or GCC equipment operating license.
Applicants with practical experience in import cargo handling and knowledge of customs procedures will have an added advantage.
